Gusto by Heinz Beck at Conrad Algarve
a Michelin Star restaurant
Gusto by Heinz Beck is the Conrad Algarve hotel's signature gourmet restaurant, serving exquisite Mediterranean cuisine in an elegant yet relaxed and lively ambience, with lovely views across the Conrad grounds and Algarve countryside.
In 2017, Gusto was awarded a Michelin Star.
Gusto - named after Conrad Hilton's father Augustus (and incidentally a nice play on the Portuguese word gosto which means taste) is proud to have at it's helm chef Heinz Beck. Known as the Master of Gastronomy, Beck rose to fame at La Pergola at the Waldorf Astoria Rome Cavalieri where he holds an impressive 3 Michelin stars, plus another star at Apsleys in London. At Gusto in the Algarve, the chef crafts the seasonal menu and innovative Mediterranean cuisine to take advantage of the excellent local fish, fruit and vegetables. Responsible for the restaurant concept, chef Heinz Beck marries Germanic precision, Scandinavian sleekness and Mediterranean passion to create a unique dining experience in the Algarve.
The day to day running of the Gusto kitchen is entrusted to Head Chef Danile Pirillo. Moving quietly about the open kitchen, on view to all diners, he leads his international team in a performance of balletic precision and grace to produce gastronomic marvels. There is no frantic slinging of pots here, just expert craftsmanship and a passion for excellence. The high standards set in the kitchen are complemented by the service. Discreet, very professional, yet always friendly, service at Gusto by Heinz Beck is never an interruption to your dining experience.
The menu at Gusto is created to reflect the seasonal bounties of the Algarve as well as the innovation and elegant Mediterranean cuisine for which Heinz Beck is famous. Seafood features as does the best meat and game. Already gaining fame are the Atlantic Lobster medallions on cous-cous , the duck breast in persimmon and veal tenderloin in Jasmine tea.
The Gusto Bar and Lounge is sleek and stylish with an impressive range of cocktails on offer which are perfect for pre-dinner drinks while the Cuban cigar menu ensures post-prandial pleasure. The Wine Room, separating the bar from the Scandinavian décored dining area, houses a generous range of international and Portuguese wines and the Gusto sommelier will happily guide you in making your selection.
Gourmet and haute cuisine it may be, but Gusto is also a very welcoming restaurant. From the wonderful hospitality of the staff, to the peaceful views across the gardens of the Conrad Algarve, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Which perfectly reflects Heinz Beck's answer when asked about his aspirations for Gusto - 'to make guests happy'.
