Show cooking and Wine Tasting dining experience by Restaurante A Vela in Carvoeiro. Portuguese flavours and cusine, wines from Algarve and Alentejo. Advance booking is essential as places are very limited.
From October 2021, you can enjoy a fabulous show cooking and Slow Food experience at A Vela. Available for both lunch and dinner, the experience is a journey of Portuguese flavours with particular focus on dishes from the Algarve and Alentejo regions, paired with wines from the Algarve and the other Portuguese regions.
Your host, Antónia is well known for the fabulous hospitality of A Vela and she will be cooking the featured dishes before you, explaining their origins, the traditions behind them and the best tips on how to make them delicious.
The menu will vary depending on the fresh and seasonal produce, and your preferences. Sample dishes include:
- Cheese and Presunto
- Black Pork Linguiça roasted at the table
- Clams with garlic and fresh coriander
- Cod cakes - Pastéis de Bacalhau
- Cataplana - an aromatic stew with prawns and monkfish
- Black Pork with Migas (fried, seasoned bread crumbs)
- Dessert - two different tarts such as Almond, served with Antónia's home-made ice-cream.
The experience includes 7 courses, an aperitif, water, coffee and wine pairing.
Price per person: €50
Places are limited - max. of 6 participants per experience, making this essentially a private dining experience, perfect for couples or small groups. An excellent way to celebrate a special day or to offer as a gift.
Advance booking is essential - preferably at least 48 hours in advance. Wine is paired with the dish served on the day. The wines, selected by Antónia, can also be bought to take home.
