The latest in the resort’s restaurant offering, UMAMI brings quality and authentic Japanese cuisine to be savoured by the lake with beautiful views of the Ria Formosa natural park.

UMAMI is located at the Reserva, Quinta do Lago’s luxury condominium that overlooks the Ria Formosa. A stylish boutique restaurant, the setting is ideal, the flavours and views matching seamlessly, each inspired by the ocean and the natural world.

Food at UMAMI
At UMAMI, which is not simply a sushi restaurant, the cuisine is authentically Japanese, drawing upon tradition while embracing the modern. Inspired by the fishermen of the northern coastal waters of Japan, who grill fish on their boats over hot coals and share with one another using their oars, UMAMI combines natural elements to create fresh and creative flavour combinations. The Robata grill is used to cook different elements at different temperatures, fresh produce is sourced from Q Farm, the resorts own organic garden farm, and the restaurant features sustainable tuna on the menu.

The menu includes meat, seafood and vegetables from the Robata grill, including Wagyu beef and the fish catch of the day, robata skewers and tempura. And of course, an excellent array of sushi and sashimi. There is an extensive wine list, with many wines available by the glass, and an outstanding cocktail menu. The indoor dining room at UMAMI is intimate, seating only 20 diners. The terrace has seating for 60, including lounge seating by the pool. The views across the lake and Ria Formosa are breath-taking and sipping a UMAMI cocktail as the sun goes down is the perfect starting point for a voyage of authentic yet modern Japanese flavours.

Umami, known as the fifth taste, is simultaneously salty, sweet and savoury. Difficult to pinpoint, umami balances and rounds-out the overall flavour of a dish, and makes everything taste better. At UMAMI, the experience is similar -  the combination of fresh and flavourful food with the exquisite setting makes for an all-round satisfying experience that exceeds expectations.
