Big Reds Steakhouse

Big Red’s Steakhouse is famous for its sizzling stone steaks, racks of BBQ ribs and prime cuts of meat grilled to perfection. Offering a varied menu with vegan, vegetarian and fish options too, Big Red’s is a great all year round restaurant as well as an excellent party and wedding venue.

Located just outside Alvor, next to the Dom João Hotel, Big Red’s is spacious and welcoming (Big Red's moved in 2021 from its old location). There is an outside dining terrace, an inside/ outside garden patio and dining room. which is perfect for summer meals.

Big Red’s is named for chef and owner Nick Rowe. Nick and his team pride themselves on serving quality meat, cooked perfectly. Starting with produce of exceptional quality, the chefs prepare, flavour and cook the meat to just the right point. Opt for T-bone, rib-eye, fillet or sirloin with a range of sauces. Or cook the prime fillet or sirloin steak on a sizzling stone at the table. Big Red’s is famous for ribs as well as steaks. The baby back pork ribs are tender and tasty and come in small, medium and monster portions.

The menu also includes favourites like Portuguese Steak, Tornedo Rossini, braised Lamb shank, a mix grill combo, a choice of fish dishes and some lovely vegetarian options such as mushroom strudel. Portions are generous at Big Reds, but no matter how difficult, do save space for dessert. All are home-made, delicious favourites such as apple pie and ice-cream, cheese-cake, brownies and crème brulée.

Big Red’s is a superb venue for parties and celebrations. Bespoke menus and decoration can be organized with the team. Big Red’s makes a great wedding or a day-after party venue – it’s private, the food is excellent and the value for money is outstanding. Nick and his team also offer Big Red's catering service -  Big Red's Catering takes care of all the food, service, decoration and they cater at the restaurant or go to your own venue. The service includes a fabulous Hog Roast, which is cooked slowly and brought to your venue for a show-stopper meal.

Throughout the year Big Reds, hosts regular Country & Western afternoons, complete with live music and line dancing, as well as special menus for Christmas and New year, and great value Winter Menus.

Big Red’s is open for dinner Monday to Saturday and open on Sunda from lunch until late.
