Giant Nativity Scene - Vila Real de Santo António

Visit the giant crib, the largest nativity scene in Portugal in Vila Real de Santo António. Beautiful detail, animated figures, local touches, running water, and sound and light effects make this an amazing sight. Open from 3rd Dec. 2024 to 6th Jan. 2025.

The massive scene in VRSA is created each year council workers and a team of volunteers and has become a key Christmas-time attraction in the region.

Now in its 22nd edition, the scene is larger than ever. Over 20 tons of sand, four tons of rock dust and 3,000 kilos of cork have been used to build the scene, which took 2,500 hours to complete.The scale of the display and the attention to detail is amazing! There are 5,800 figures, 100 animated or motorized pieces, lakes and local landmarks in the display that covers 240m²  

The nativity scene is open to visitors every day between 10am and 1pm and 2.30pm and 7pm.

Entry is €1 per adult; €0.50 for children (3 - 10 years of age
