Orbitur is one of the most trusted names and a major player in camping in Portugal. With over 22 parks spread all around the country including 4 in the Algarve, they provide clean, accessible, well run campsites and bungalow parks.
The Orbitur Bungalow park on the Ilha de Armona is a small bungalow park perfect for tranquil, laid back breaks. Located on a small island just off the Algarve coastline, the park is right in the centre of the island with the sea and beach just a short stroll in any direction. The island is part of the Ria Formosa Nature Park with its fascinating system of sandbanks, lagoons and water channels and a rich and constantly changing bird and sealife population.
There are no cars on the island and just a few small shops where you can purchase essentials. There are several cafés and restaurants on the island (open during the summer months) serving up a good selection of Portuguese and international food, including fantastic fish dishes. The Ilha de Armona is probably not on too many jet-setters radar, however it is a lovely, quiet, genuine, somewhat old-fashioned location.
The town of Olhão is home to one of the most famous fish markets in the Algarve. The waterfront is packed with cafés , restaurants, small shops and some bars and is a lively and very Portuguese summer resort.
