A powerhouse of art in Loule, Algarve

ArtCatto art gallery in Loulé is one of the Algarve's most respected and international galleries, bringing great art to the Algarve in a series of outstanding exhibitions featuring international artists.

Open since 2011, over the years ArtCatto has exhibited the works of a wide range of artists at the gallery and at choice locations in the region, such as the Conrad Algarve. Exhibitions have featured the works of Philip Jackson, Voka, Alain Bertrand, Dom Pattison, John Hoyland, Jeff Lowe and Terry O'Neill, among others.

Located in the centre of Loulé, close to the luxury resorts of Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago, ArtCatto is housed in a beautiful, traditional design, townhouse. Open Monday to Friday, the gallery is a a peaceful haven of art in the busy market town. The exhibitions change regularly, featuring sole artists or displaying some of the excellent works from the ArtCatto collection.

In 2017 alone, ArtCatto has exhibited the works of leading UK artists John Hoyland and Jeff Howe in the Free Form Summer Exhibition at Conrad Algarve, the works of Cristina Begoglio, Christian Palmer and Jürgen Lingl-Rebetez and the sculptures of Jonty Hurwitz. The latest exhibition, “The Patterns of Abstraction" featured the works of Antonio Marra and Alisa Lim A Po. The exhibition launches or vernissage at ArtCatto are quite relaxed and social affairs, and often offer unique opportunities to meet the artists and hear them speak about their works. Currently and until the end of the year, visitors to ArtCatto can view works by Dom Pattison, Alisa Lim A Po, Antonio Marra, John Hyland, Jeff Lowe and Cristina Bergoglio.

ArtCatto was founded by Gillian Catto, a well known figure in the London art world and indeed internationally, having run a successful gallery in Hampstead for over 30 years. During this time she has featured and promoted a few collectable favourites such as the work of popular Scottish painter, Jack Vettriano. ArtCatto provides a welcoming space in the Algarve for artists and art lovers to meet. While many of the works exhibited at the gallery find new homes in the area, a significant number are exported by the gallery to various parts of the world, giving the Algarve in general, and ArtCatto in particular, a growing reputation as a flourishing art nexus.

ArtCatto Gallery is open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 18:00h
Open on Saturday by appointment only.
