Sunset Sailing
The Ria Formosa is a protected area that runs from Quinta do Lago to Tavira. It’s 60km of translucent waterways, golden sandbanks, lagoons, and sparsely populated islands. Sailing the waterways here brings you in touch with the unspoilt natural beauty of the Algarve, traditional fishing communities, and the breathtaking perfection of a sunny day at sea. Sunset Sailing offers private boat trips in the Ria Formosa area, as well as along the Algarve coast and the Guadiana River. The modern catamaran is available for charter and can accommodate up to 14 passengers plus crew on day trips, or 7 passengers plus crew on overnight trips. All the trips offered by Sunset Sailing are private, meaning you charter the boat just for your group.
The crew, led by couple Carla and Armando, greets you with a coffee, fresh Pastel de Nata, and smiles, before heading out to sea. A family-run business, the crew is doing what they love – sharing the beauty and tranquility of the Ria Formosa and Algarve. This permeates everything they do and makes for relaxed and friendly sea experiences.
SUNSET SAILING EXPERIENCES
Ria Formosa Day Tour – a full day at sea (10:h to 18:00h). Sailing from Faro the itinerary is flexible according to your group's wishes. Generally, the trip includes exploring the islands and amazing beaches of Ilha Deserta, Culatra and Armona, as well as heading out to the open sea to look for dolphins in the wild. There are plenty of stops along the way, with time for some SUP (stand up paddle) fun, or for a dip in the calm waters. Lunch can be provided on board, or you can come ashore and enjoy lunch at one of the island restaurants.

Ria Formosa Half Day Tour – a four-hour tour exploring the tranquil waters of the Ria Formosa and discovering its peaceful islands. The scenery is simply stunning. There is time to swim in the clear waters, or, sea conditions permitting, head out to open sea and perhaps see dolphins in the wild.

Three-Day Sailing Tours – a fabulous opportunity to spend three days at sea, exploring the coast, reveling in the beauty of nature and discovering more of Portugal.
Three-Day Coastal Sailing - from Faro to Portimão. Exploring the amazing Algarve coastline, how it changes from the tranquil waterways of the Ria Formosa to the intricate rock formations and caves by Albufeira and Carvoeiro, including the famous Benagil cave.
Three Days Sea and River Sailing – from Faro, sailing east towards Vila Real de Sato António, on the border with Spain. Time to explore the coastline, before entering the Guadiana and sailing upriver to Alcoutim. This trip offers a great mix of coastal and river scenery and is a fabulous way to discover a lesser known Algarve.
