Altura Beach
Beautifully sandy accessible beach with great facilities
Praia de Altura is located just 40km east of Faro. This beach which bears the same name as the nearby town, is also known as Praia da Alagoa and is set between the beaches of Praia Verde and Praia da Lota.
Sand dunes lead down to the wide, flat stretch of almost white fine sand. The beach is very accessible, with access via a wooden walkway. There is plenty of parking available too, including parking right next to the beach.
The facilities on Altura beach are very good including toilets, restaurants and a wealth of water activities from jet skiing to wind surfing to snorkeling to name but a few. The beach is supervised by life guards during the bathing season.
If you enjoy walking, Altura is the perfect place for a long invigorating walk, with plenty of small beach cafes to stop off at along the way.
Praia de Altura is one of the Algarve’s hidden gems and once discovered it is a place to return to time and time again.
