Where to find taxis and taxi ranks in the Algarve.
Taxis are a safe, easy and relatively cheap way of getting around. The taxis are easily identifiable – they are either beige or black and green. Ranks are found in all the resorts, towns and shopping centres. It is best to either go to a rank or call a taxi to collect you as it is not always easy to flag them down. Demand often outstrips availability during the high season, so it is a good idea to bring the central rank telephone number with you before you venture out. That way you can avoid waiting at a rank while your shopping melts! Taxis can take four passengers. There are some six and eight seater taxis available, but if you are a part of a bigger group it is advisable to book beforehand.
