Vagabondo Restaurant - Algarve
The garden patio is perfect for outside dining. Advance bookings are essential in the summer if you want a table here, as it is one of the most sought after spots in Alvor.
Vagabondo is one of Alvor's most popular restaurants - and justifiably so. It is almost an obligatory stop during your stay in the area. The setting is lovely, the ambience relaxed and the food excellent.
Located on Alvors busy pedestrian street, Vagabondo's main dining room is the perfect place for people watching and in the winter the log fire adds to the welcoming atmosphere. During the summer, the courtyard at the back is ideal for al fresco dining, being dotted with lemon, orange, arbutus and olive trees that provide a lovely cool oasis on those mellow algarvian evenings.
The menu is varied with a good choice of fish and meat, grilled over charcoal. You can choose from grilled steaks, picanha (Brazilian beef), a rack of spare ribs, or the B.B.Q. plate - which is a mixture of several different grilled meats. Or if you're really, really hungry you should try the 500 gr. Steak. There are several prawn dishes, grilled salmon and fish of the day, as well as a seafood platter which is a tasty selection of different seafood.
There is a children's menu available and a good selection of desserts, if you still have room. The staff is friendly and professional. All in all, Vagabondo is sure to be a pleasant evening out. During high season its a good idea to make a reservation.
Vagabondo is owned by four Scandanavians that have made the Algarve their home for many years, operating two excellent restaurants in Alvor - Vagabondo and Paesano , a fantastic Italian restaurant that serves much more than just pizzas and pastas, right opposite Vagabondo.
