The garden terrace is like a magical little summer kingdom, absolutely perfect for outdoor dining. Watch out for those figs!
Restaurant Casa do Campo is one of those hidden gems that the Algarve loves to keep as a surprise. Located close to both Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago, this is one of the most charming restaurants in the region, and consistently delivers quality in food and service.
Hidden from the main road, the restaurant is housed in what was once an old farm house, dating back to 1884. It exudes a timeless charm and rustic elegance. The indoor dining room is quite traditional in style, in keeping with the building, with tables circling the central fireplace. The thick stone walls are adorned with art from local galleries, adding a modern note to Casa do Campo. In the summer the wooden shutters are thrown back and the beautiful Algarve light streams across the white-washed walls and dark wooden rafters, creating a remarkable and tranquil ambience.
During the summer the garden terrace, dotted with candles and colourful cushions is the place for al fresco dining. A leafy haven in which to dine on superb food, all eyes are drawn to the magnificent fig tree that dominates the courtyard. Over 200 years old, it provides lovely shade, not to mention some seriously fresh figs which can literally fall into your lap! A little extra magic to match the fabulous food.
The menu at Casa do Campo features Mediterranean and Algarvian dishes. Local fresh produce is used whenever possible. In fact, most of the fresh fruit and vegetables used at Casa do Campo are grown on the restaurant's own farm, completely free of pesticides - a sure guarantee of freshness and flavour. Follow Casa do Campo on Instagram to meet Dona Fátima, the green-fingered farmer responsible for the amazing fresh produce. The menu follows a farm-to-table philosophy, varies with the seasons, and there is always fresh, wild fish available as well as oysters and other shellfish, such as the fabulous giant Tiger Prawns, and a range of quality meat dishes including a superb pepper steak.
As all dishes are freshly made to order, Casa do Campo can cater for special dietary requests, such as gluten-free meals, with ease. And making use of the excellent fruit and vegetables from their own farm, there are always seasonal and delicious vegetarian and vegan options available. There is also a good wine list featuring some excellent local and Portuguese wines.
The atmosphere at Casa do Campo is relaxed and welcoming. The high quality of the food is matched by the service and the hospitality of your hosts. The wonderful staff ensure that you enjoy delicious food in charming surroundings, served always with a smile. Discreet, professional and always welcoming, the food, service and setting are all come together for a fabulous dining experience.
