Quinta das Barradas
A charming 19th Century country house for peaceful, relaxed holidays

Set in open countryside Quinta das Barradas has wonderful views of the Monchique hills. The soundtrack here is birdsong, a gurgling stream and the wind rustling through the trees. The emphasis is on nature, relaxation and peace of mind. There is a natural biological pool, fed by the fresh water streams, where no chemicals or other artificial products are used. Enjoy relaxing poolside in the tree dappled shade or wander the pretty gardens. There are plenty of calm spots where you can catch up on your reading or doze off in the sunshine, the air perfumed with herbs from the Quinta's herb garden.
There is a restaurant on site at Quinta das Barradas that is open for breakfast each morning and snacks each day until 3pm with dinner service on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday during high season. There is a spacious covered terrace overlooking the gardens. The food here is seasonal and fresh, inspired by traditional algarve cuisine. During the summer there is a weekly BBQ - a banquet of meat, fish and vegetarian fare.
The rooms at Quinta da Barradas are spacious and individually decorated in a rustic style. Most rooms have private terraces overlooking the gardens. All rooms are en-suite and are equipped with
Sat TV, central heating (from November until April), telephone and safe.
As a working farm, guests can take part in the farm's activities if they wish, including fruit-picking and feeding the farm animals, from piglets and ducks to chickens, turkeys and goats. The children usually love this aspect of their stay at the Quinta as well as the freedome to explore the gardens and country trails. There is also a games room at the Quinta. During the summer season there is the optional service of supervised children's programme of fun and activities, leaving the parents time to relax, explore the area or enjoy a round of golf on one of the nearby courses.
