The Ophelia Coastal Cruise (6 hours) leaves from Portimão and heads out to sea, passing the pretty fishing village of Ferragudo and the historic castle which overlooks the beach. Towards the West you can see the long golden sands of Praia da Rocha and the contrasting colours of the white sands of Praia do Vau against the red cliffs. To the East you pass the resort of Carvoeiro and sail by the amazing rock formations at Algar Seco. This is a fantasy landscape of caves, grottoes and sea arches that nature has sculpted from the cliffs over thousands of years.The water is wonderfully clear here and with the bright Algarve sunshine filtered through the holes and fissures in the rocks and reflecting off the water, the effect is magical. Small boats take you from the Ophelia through the caves, the Benagil cave among them - an experience you are unlikely to forget. Whatever you do, make sure you have your camera!
