Faro Free Walking Tours
Free guided tours around Faro old town
Faro Free Walking Tours take place twice a day, every day. The tours, which are in English, are a fabulous way to discover more about the capital of the Algarve. A town with a long and rich history, Faro is finally being recognized as an interesting destination in its own right, rather than as just the place you fly into.
The local guides will take you along the narrow calçada streets (Portuguese cobblestone) while sharing insights about past residents of the town from Roman times to the present. Faro, with the Ria Formosa a constant presence, is a very picturesque town, so there are lots of photo opportunities.
The meeting point for the Faro Free Walking Tours is at the Arco da Vila - the gateway to the old town. Tour duration is 2 hours. There are no upfront costs and participants are free to decide their contribution at the end of the tour. This is the only source of funding for this independent initiative of local guides.
No reservations are necessary - just show up and look for the guides with the red umbrella.
Faro Free Walking Tours times:
11h00 and 15h00 from the 1st of October until the 31st of May;
