Festival of the Sovereign Mother, Loulé 2025

Each year Loulé holds a celebratory festival in honor of the patron saint of the city, the Sovereign Mother, Our Lady of Mercy. This celebration is considered to be the largest religious festival south of Fatima.

The 'Small Feast' begins on Easter Sunday, 20th April , with a procession to carry the statue of the patron saint down from its sanctuary in the Church of Our Lady to the Church of São Francisco. The statue remains in the Church of São Francisco until the 'Big Feast' two weeks later on 4th May.

This important religious festival attracts thousands of pilgrims to Loulé, who come to follow the return procession to the Church of Our Lady and to hear the high mass.
