Located right on the quayside of Ferragudo, Sueste is the restaurant to visit for the freshest seafood and some authentic algarve flavours.
From the display cabinet showcasing the catch of the day you choose your fish. Here the hints from the knowledgeable waiters come in handy as they can best explain the types of fish available and the size of fish that best suits your party. Robalo (sea bass) and dourado (golden bream) will usually be available as are sardines during their season. But often there are other species of fish that you may not be familiar with but that are very, very tasty. Once the selection is made the fish is cleaned and prepared for grilling. The cook butterflies the fish, sprinkles it with sea salt and onto the grill it goes. The grilling takes place in the open air, right on the quayside.
We chose a robalo, which was grilled to perfection and the perfect size for our party of three. The fish was accompanied by small boiled potatoes tossed in oil and garlic and a fresh mixed salad. Not only delicious but good for you too! For starters we choose fish soup which was excellent and fried prawns. The prawns were large, the portion generous and the flavours divine. Dessert was a rich almond cake and chocolate mousse liberally doused with rum.
Sueste is fish, fish, fish. But just in case, there is one meat dish on the menu. The wine list is good and the restaurant will often showcase a particularly interesting wine. Another attraction is that, should you wish, you can arrive by sea at Sueste. The restaurant will send their boat to pick you up from your yacht or from one of the marinas in the area!
