Club Nau

With its gorgeous coastline and superb climate, it is not surprising that there are some fantastic beach bars to be found in the Algarve. One of the best is Club Nau on Praia Grande in Ferragudo. For chilled jazz afternoons, mellow evenings and lively nights, this is the place to be.

Club Nau nestles at the base of the rocks just down from the famous Ferragudo castle. The beach itself is a wide expanse of fine sand, looking across the Arade estuary to the colourful marina at Praia da Rocha. Club Nau makes the most of these stunning views and it's wonderful location. On the terrace overlooking the beach, generous wooden tables shaded by wide parasols are the place of choice for some good food and relaxation. There is a great chill out area just off the terrace - low deck chairs, bean bags and coloured sofas that just call out for you to throw away your watch, switch off your mobile and order your favourite drink.

Open all day Club Nau has an interesting range of salads, tapas and main courses. You can opt for a serious T Bone, chicken prir-piri, sword fish or some great tiger prawns. There is a choice of pasta and vegetarian dishes. The dishes of the day are worth asking about - especially the Moqueca de Camarão , a type of Brazilian prawn curry. The tapas are perfect for chill out afternoons - there is humus, fried banana, satay and nachos.

Club Nau hosts live music several times a week and throws some great parties! Friday nights are party nights with dance music from the 60's, 70's and 80's. The party kicks off around 10pm and goes into the early hours of the morning. Sunday afternoons are reserved for Jazz on the Beach - mellow music, tasty tapas and chilled sun-downers. You can watch the yachts come and go from the marina, work on your tan, have fun with your friends and listen to some great music - quality multi-tasking!
