Capriccio Italian Restaurant
Algarve
In a beautiful setting overlooking the sumptuous yachts moored at the prize-winning Vilamoura marina, Capriccio is famous for its superb, artisanal ice creams and authentic Italian food. There is a large and sunny terrace, just right for people watching while enjoying your favourite gelato or a glass of Proseco, as well as a dining area with panoramic windows that bring the outside in.
Capriccio is very proud of its home-made ice cream – and so it should be. A lot of love and skill, artfully mixed with delicious fresh fruit, including biologic fruits from a local farm: strawberries, raspberries blackberries, quality milk and cream, results in tubfuls of temptation that are impossible to resist. Freshly produced every day, the colourful array and great choice on offer (there are even vegan friendly options) makes choosing just one very difficult…so, go on, have three scoops! You can enjoy your ice cream on the sunny terrace or while wandering around the marina. Purists can opt for a straight, no combo, one scoop delight, or the more indulgent can choose one of Capriccio’s fabulous ice cream desserts or a 3 scoop special!
While it’s hard not to want to start with the ice-cream, it’s worth restraining yourself to sample some of the excellent Italian food on offer at Capriccio too. Paying special attention to the freshness and quality of all the products used, the food at Capriccio offers the familiar and delicious flavours of Italy with a modern presentation. The pizzas are made the traditional way, with the pizzialo working the dough to form a light and thin base. A generous helping of home-made tomato sauce, cheese fresh herbs and the toppings of choice, one minute in the oven and …presto, a tasty and delectable pizza.
Capriccio also make their own Spelt Pizza. Spelt is a species of wheat that's been used since 5000 BC. It is also a higher source of protein, fibre and manganese - this makes it a more digestible alternative to regular wheat. You can read about the nutritional benefits of spelt here. Capriccio has worked hard to perfect their Spelt Pizza recipe, so go on, give it a try - it's delicious and it's good for you!
There is a great range of pastas too – special mention for the home made ravioli and black pasta with seafood. Capriccio specials include Salti in Bocca alla Romano, the Fettina alla Veneziana (fillet steak with four cheese sauce) and the risottos.
Capriccio is open every day from 9:30am til late. Breakfast is served at Capriccio as are smaller snacks to enjoy during the day - they have a great range of bruschettas and some fabulous salads. And junior visitors also have a great menu with a range of pasta and pizza options. Not to mention the ice cream….
With a fabulous location and those great views across the marina, and such a varied menu, Capriccio is an excellent option for great Italian food in Vilamoura.
