Vila Real de Santo Antonio Beach

The last stretch of beach in east Algarve

The beach at Vila Real Santo Antonio is the last stretch of beach in Eastern Algarve, the next stop is Spain! It is a magnificent stretch of beach and goes all the way to Tavira, so it is an ideal place to go for long walks.

The beach is clean and the waters here are among the warmest along the Algarve given the close proximity to the Mediterranean.

The access to the beach is a little bit hazardous; the road down to the beach can be difficult by car due to the many concrete "humps" on it to restrict speed. The beach is one of the few along the Algarve coast with no amenities, so be sure to bring along an ice box with water and some provisions, otherwise it is a fair walk back to the nearest cafe, bar, or shop!

From the beach of Vila Real Santo Antonio there are magnificent views across to Ayamonte on the Spanish coast. Being so close to Spain, the beach is very popular with Spanish holiday makers and day-trippers.

The beach is supervised during the bathing season which starts on June 1st and normally ends on Sept 30th.
