Atlantic Riders offers surf camps and surfing holidays in the Western Algarve and along the Portuguese West coast. Excellent local knowledge, plenty of good humor and the fantastic Algarve beaches have made the Atlantic Riders holidays very popular with surf enthusiasts from all over Europe.

The company, founded by René and Helen, started tripping in the summer of 2001. They brought their love of Portugal and of surfing together and set up shop in the Algarve. They run an international team – Australia, New Zealand and Holland are all represented. Atlantic Riders surf camp and surf school is fully certified and has all licenses and insurances required by Portuguese Law and Governmental and Local Authorities. The Algarve offers unique surfing conditions. This is where the Atlantic swells first hit the European mainland. The Algarve offers similar characteristics to a peninsula, in a radius of just 30 to 40 kilometers. and has a huge variety of waves.

The Atlantic Riders surf camp is operated close to Bordeira, a small coastal village in the middle of the National Park of the South-West Algarve. There is quick access from the surf camp to the many beaches in the Algarve and the Southern part of the Alentejo. The staff can bring you to the surrounding beaches daily, different spots can be visited on a day, dawn patrolling, sunset surfing, whatever appeals.

It is from this surf camp that Atlantic Riders run their surf holidays. Every morning starts with a great breakfast, then it’s off to the beach. Surf classes will be given to those who need surf lessons. The surf breaks are suitable for all levels. Surf classes are always kept close to the beach in maximum waist-deep water, just to make sure that you are safe and that you feel safe. Experienced surfers paddle out to the line up and surf reefs, point breaks or the many beach breaks.

Aside from the Surf Camp, Atlantic Riders also offer a pretty unique Surf Safari combining surfing, camping and traveling into an action packed adventure, exploring many different beaches, towns, villages and the ever changing landscape of Portugal, with a new beach and a new place to sleep almost every day. All the hard work is done by the experienced surf guides who take care of pretty much everything. All you have to do is enjoy the experience.
