Located in the heart of Loulé, ArtCatto Gallery is a contemporary art gallery housed in an impressive traditional Portuguese townhouse. The gallery holds exhibitions and showcases international artists of great acclaim attracting an art-loving audience from nearby resorts.
Owner, Gillian Catto is already well known in the London art world and indeed internationally, having run a successful gallery in Hampstead for over 30 years. During this time she has featured and promoted a few collectable favourites such as the work of popular Scottish painter, Jack Vettriano.
Making the move to live in the Algarve, Gillian saw a gap in the market for a gallery in a unique and attractive location where both artists and art connoisseurs could meet and appreciate art while on holiday. ArtCatto gallery is in a beautiful tradtional townhouse, which has been renovated to a high standard, retaining it's original features and includes a wonderful roof terrace with views across Loulé.
Since opening this gallery in December 2011, ArtCatto have held numerous previews and events showcasing some of the best national and international artists' paintings and sculpture as well as photography. In July 2012 ArtCatto provided the location for Loulé Art and Design Festival in collaboration with Beau McClellan lighting design. The gallery has also been responsible for some superb exhibitions at the near by Conrad Algarve hotel featuring renowned artists such as Philip Jackson, Dom Pattison, Maimon and photographer Terry O'Neill.
A large catalogue of art is available for sale directly from their website including limited editions and prints.
Art Catto holds regular exhibitions both at the gallery and at the Conrad Algarve, near Quinta do Lago, and the Dona Filipa hotel in Vale do Lobo. The art works on display grace the walls of properties in Portugal but are also shipped internationally making Art Catto an increasingly important art nexus.
