Located close to Vale do Lobo and Quinta do Lago, it’s not just the food and wine that are perfectly paired at Tribulum. The stunning setting has views across pine tree canopies and there is a gorgeous lounge and bar, with a chic rustic vibe. The beautiful surroundings are complemented by the warm, friendly and never pretentious hospitality. At Tribulum, your time is to be enjoyed - to savour great food and good conversation, to sip on glorious wines and share moments with friends.
Another perfect Tribulum pairing is that of chef Jonnie Pratt and sommelier Justin O’Hanlon. Both highly regarded, they bring infectious enthusiasm and vast knowledge of all things food and wine. They are passionate about bringing quality to the table and creating those magical experiences where every element of setting, atmosphere, food and wine come together.
At Tribulum the menu (see the attachment tab above) is creative with a contemporary take on Portuguese cuisine and classic dishes. It is food with flair and some inspired chef specials. Much of the produce used at Tribulum is locally sourced, some even grown on the premises. Quality and value are both hallmarks of the Tribulum menu. Starters include freshly marinated sardine fillets with pepperade, Earl Grey smoked duck, chicken lollipops, scallops, quail and what is billed as THE prawn cocktail – local prawns with Jonnie’s home-made cocktail sauce.
Main courses include a choice of steaks, crispy pork belly with black pudding, salmon and sea-bream options as well as both vegetarian and vegan dishes. Side dishes are not an after-thought at Tribulum. You can indulge in truffle fries, red wine baked onions and braised, charred leeks. There is a tempting dessert menu to finish your meal.
The wine list, created by Justin, features local, national and international wines. He and the team are happy to indicate wines to complement your meal and the wines are competitively priced, to encourage new wine experiences for diners.
