Local Picks - Property in Algarve

Local tip from the team

If you’re considering renting or buying in the Algarve, don’t overlook nearby smaller towns like Olhão. It’s a working town with a genuine fishing port atmosphere that stays quieter in winter but springs to life during the fish market days. Buying there often means better value than the high-demand coast, plus a more down-to-earth way of life. Public markets and fresh seafood make it feel truly local, and the short ferry ride to Ilha da Armona is a bonus if you enjoy escaping crowds.
