Vila Velha
Algarve
Vila Velha restaurant in Sagres, in the Western Algarve, offers the best of traditional Portuguese cuisine, allied with a generous dash of inventive flair and excellent hospitality.
Housed in a charming building which exudes tradition and comfort, Vila Velha has been providing quality food and service since 1995. The walls are dotted with antique farm and domestic implements. The piano sitting in the corner is just waiting for somebody to come along and tease out a tune - which happens more often that you might think! In the winter, when Sagres can sometimes be buffeted by stormy weather, Vila Velha has a warming fire in the hearth and in the summer you can dine on the terrace. The friendly and professional staff speaks five languages between them, so aside from receiving a warm welcome, it will probably be in your own language too.
The menu at Vila Velha features excellent Portuguese dishes such as Caldo Verde - a traditional Portuguese cabbage and chouriço soup, Octopus salad, Prawns cooked in a variety of ways, Salted Cod, a traditional portuguese dish of Rice and Duck, rabbit and pork fillets. And let's not forget the fish of the day. Sagres is located right at the tip of the western Algarve, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. It is famous for having the freshest and tastiest fresh fish which you can enjoy lightly grilled and served with a fresh salad.
All the dishes at Vila Velha are made with the freshest ingredients available. The bread is home baked each day, and the herbs are picked from Vila Velha's own garden. Vegetarians are well catered for at Vila Velha too. There is Humus and Tzatsiki for starters and various vegetarian pasta dishes to choose from as well as the vegetable chilli.
