Cafe Bar Bacchus
Algarve
The Algarve is home to many charming secrets and Bar Bacchus is one of the most charming. Thick white-washed walls, sloped ceilings and hand painted tile murals by famous Irish artist Patrick Swift set the scene, home-cooked delicious food satisfies any appetite.
Bar Bacchus is located within the famous Porches Pottery showroom and workshop in a traditional sytle algarvian farmhouse. The cosy cottage feel is enhanced by the thick white walls, wooden rafters and warming fireplace. Outside, there is a generous sun-deck overlooking the lovely gardens, shaded by tall palm trees which is perfect for al fresco dining, or just a chilled sundowner to round off the day.
John and Susan at Bar Bacchus take great care to provide a varied and original menu, with the emphasis on quality home-cooking. There are daily specials and every dish is freshly prepared to order. The food is all home-made – delicious and healthy home-made soups and quiches, a selection of fresh baguettes with interesting and varied fillings, a range of salads, served with home-made dressings and delicious cakes and desserts. There are several vegetarian options too as well as a very good value Sunday lunch (this is served from November to March). There is a breakfast menu from 9 - 11 am. Special mention for the breakfast pancakes – served with real maple syrup! The food philosphy at Bar Bacchus is simple - they use fresh, local, seasonal produce to produce delicious, wholesome food.
With plenty of parking, and the fascinating Porches Pottery workshop next door, Bar Bacchus is a great spot to spend some time. The food is delicious, the atmosphere very relaxed and there is even free wi-fi for clients to use. It is a great option too for private functions, weddings , or family celebrations – intimate, original and unique.
