A recent addition to the luxury Vila Vita Collection portfolio, the Red Chalet has a rich history. Dating from the turn of the 20th century, the villa was envisaged as a seaside summer home for the wealthy Vasconcelos family, and the building is today considered an historical landmark. Perched directly above the golden sands of Armação de Pêra beach, with the terrace actually on the seawall, the views from the Red Chalet are simply stunning – vistas of glittering ocean and golden sands.

The renovations to the original building retained many of the original features of the period – unique wooden floors, the magnificent staircase, and antique chandeliers, as well as some beautiful, Moorish-inspired, geometric design features that pay homage to the region’s rich cultural history. The result is a truly unique luxury villa, offering the romance and elegance of the past along with all the comforts contemporary travellers crave.

The ocean-view terrace lounge is a siren call to indolent days and evenings, lived to the rhythm of the tides. The private, heated pool and sundeck are perfect for sunny relaxtion, and there is even a sauna and treatment room adjacent to the pool.

The Red Chalet consists of the main house and the adjacent White House.
The main house has a large open kitchen, leading to light-filled dining and living areas, with that fabulous ocean-view terrace. The gorgeous staircase leads to two ensuite rooms and another terrace with beautiful views. There is even a secret roof-top terrace, where, in times past, visitors would gather to hear the townsfolk singing songs dedicated to the local fishermen at the nearby church.

The White House, set at the front of the Chalet, offers a more modern design aesthetic, and a boho-chic vibe. There is a duplex suite with living room and terrace on the lower floor, and an ensuite bedroom on the upper floor.
