Description

Embark on a family quest to find Tavira’s lost treasure. Explore the city’s ancient streets, solve riddles, search for hidden symbols, and help the young guardian of the city restore the magical compass. Begin your adventure with a treasure map, a message, and a set of cards. Complete seven missions to collect the compass pieces and unlock the treasure chest. Mission 1: River Message Location: Praça da República and the Gilão River waterfront. Receive an ancient map and find the missing symbols. Observe the river and identify the animals, birds, and boats connected to Tavira’s history. Earn the first compass piece. Mission 2: Old Bridge Mystery Location: Ponte Antiga de Tavira. Cross the famous bridge and count its arches. Search for the hidden symbol on the card and solve the riddle about the city’s two banks. Earn the water symbol. Mission 3: Azulejo Hunt Location: Old streets of the historic center. Receive cards with fragments of Portuguese tiles. Find similar colors, patterns, and images on the house facades. Create your own azulejo pattern. Earn the city symbol. Mission 4: Moorish Guardian’s Trail Location: Old quarter on the way to the castle. Learn about Moorish Tavira. Follow the symbolic footprints of the guardian, solve the code, and choose the right path to the fortress. Earn the key to the city gates. Mission 5: Tavira Towers Location: Castelo de Tavira. Explore the castle walls, find the best observation point, and complete the “City Guardian” task: determine where ships and enemies might have approached. Take a panoramic photo as a souvenir. Earn the protection symbol. Mission 6: Knights’ Legend Location: Igreja de Santa Maria do Castelo, exterior view. Learn the legend of the seven knights and find seven details around the church and castle. Older children solve the encrypted name, while younger ones match pictures. Earn the final piece of the magical compass. Mission 7: Sailor’s Chest Location: Castle garden or quiet square in the historic center. Assemble the compass pieces and determine where the small chest is hidden. Inside are commemorative tokens, stickers, or small souvenirs for children. After completing the quest, each child receives a “Young Explorer of Tavira” certificate and a small Portuguese sweet or ice cream. Creative Stop Decorate a paper tile in the azulejo style or create a small sea souvenir from shells and colored sand. Take your finished work home.
