Wine Tour and Vineyard Picnic at Herdade Canal Caveira, Alentejo Coast
Herdade Canal Caveira offers a guided wine tour and vineyard picnic on the Alentejo coast, ideal for wine lovers and regional food enthusiasts.
Description
Located at the meeting point of two prominent Portuguese wine regions, Setúbal and Alentejo, Herdade Canal Caveira sits on a 45-hectare estate near the Grândola Mountains. The property benefits from a unique microclimate influenced by the nearby Atlantic coast.
The estate includes 25 hectares of vineyards, along with olive, orange, cork oak, holm oak, arbutus, and pine trees. The winery is accessible via road IC1 and features a distinctive castle-shaped house greeting travelers heading to the Algarve.
Vineyards bathed in sunshine stretch along a stream and the roadside. The top-floor winery views overlook the village, mountains, and plains, complementing the tasting experience of the estate's elegant, complex, and persistent wines. The sandy soils, wide temperature range, and Atlantic influence create an ideal terroir for high-quality wine production.
The experience includes a guided, detailed tour of the estate covering its history, the region, and the winemaking process. Following the tour, guests receive a basket of regional products and can select a spot in the vineyard for a picnic. The picnic includes cheeses, sausages, olive oil, bread, fruit, and cookies, paired with a bottle of Herdade Canal Caveira wine.
