Legenden om mandelblomster
Lenge siden, under mauriske tider i Algarve, regjerte en ung kalif i Silves. Han forelsket seg i en vakker prinsesse fra nordlige land, Gilda. Forelsket og lykkelig giftet de seg. Etter hvert som tiden gikk, ble imidlertid Gilda trist og savnet hjemlandet sitt. Kalifen rådførte seg med trollmenn og vise menn fra hele verden, i et forsøk på å finne en måte å bringe glede til Gilda på, men uten suksess....Inntil en dag kom det en forslag om å plante tusenvis av mandeltre over hele kongeriket. Når mandeltreet var i blomst, falt de delikate hvite blomstene til bakken, dekket landet med et pent hvitt teppe, tilfredsstilte Gildas lengsel etter snødekte landskap i hjemlandet, og brakte glede til livet hennes igjen.
