Supermarket chain is helping pets find new homes

Supermarket chain Intermarché has launched Amigame, a national online animal adoption platform where lonely animals can find new homes. With several outlets across the Algarve, Intermarché hopes the new initiative will help bring pets and families together.

There are several animal welfare institutions that try so hard to place animals in loving homes but it is not always an easy task. With Amigame, Intermarché hopes that these insitutions will be able to reach many more people and so increase the chances of lonely cats and dogs finding new best friends.

The animal welfare insitution simply signs up to the platform and can then post photos and information about each animal that is available for adoption and can then be contacted directly by those interested.

As an addtional way of supporting animal welfare in Portugal, shoppers at Intermarché can buy donation vouchers ranging in value from €5 to €25  that then reverts back to the institutions using Amigame.

Launched in late February 2018, the Amigame platform already has informaton on over 100 animals available for adoption.

Intermarché is a supermarket chain present nationally in Portugal. There are several outlets in the Algarve including Intermarché in Carvoeiro and in Monchique.
