Pirate ship cruises to the sea caves
Santa Bernarda is quite a unique boat. Like something out of Pirates of the Caribbean, the Santa Bernarda is a graceful ship with two masts and seven sails, cutting a majestic swathe through the Atlantic waters, as it cruises by the golden beaches and intricate coastline of the Algarve. As you relax on board you will be lulled by the hypnotic sounds of the wind in the sails and the waves lapping the ship’s hull. Close your eyes and you can easily imagine yourself living a pirate adventure in times gone by.
A large and distinctive boat, the Santa Bernarda has cambala wooden decks with plenty of space for relaxing in the sun or in the shade beneath the sails, there’s an inner salon, a bar serving drinks and snacks and WC on board. Being such a unique and evocative boat, the Santa Bernarda is perfect for family adventures, fun with friends or private parties and weddings. It’s a great way to explore the coastline, including the famous Benagil cave.
The Santa Bernarda runs regular boat trips along the Algarve coast as well as bespoke trips for private charter, departing from Portimão.
Caves of Benagil tour
A 3 hours cruise that takes you along the beautiful coastline from Portimão, passing Ferragudo and Carvoeiro, until reaching the caves at Benagil. Here smaller boats take you inside the magnificent cave so you can really experience its beauty. There are many amazing caves in this area, vaults carved from the rocks over millions of years and you will visit at least 8 caves on this trip. At Praia da Marinha you can see the graceful sea arches and beautiful cove beaches. There is time to swim in the clear waters if you wish, and if conditions allow.

Caves and Beach BBQ
A full day experience visiting the magical caves, exploring the coast and including a BBQ on a secluded beach. This is a wonderful day out, allowing you to enjoy the best of the coast as well as some relaxation and tasty food on a hidden beach, accessible only from the sea.
Departing Portimão, the Santa Bernarda sails past Ferragudo, Carvoeiro, the rock formations of Algar Seco and onto the intriguing caves at Benagil. You will visit several caves in small boats before coming ashore at a secluded beach where the crew sets up a delicious BBQ for you to enjoy. You may feel like Robinson Crusoe but you’ll eat like a king – grilled sardines, chicken piri-piri, pork steaks, salad, bread and fruit, accompanied by wines and soft drinks. A vegetarian option is available but must be booked in advance.
There’s plenty of time to enjoy the beach, to relax and swim, before continuing the cruise westwards along the coast, returning to harbour with full sails (conditions permitting).
This trip is not available during the winter months.

Private Charter for parties and weddings
Bespoke tours can be arranged on the Santa Bernarda. This is such a unique and photogenic boat, it makes for a very memorable venue for a special day. The maximum capacity is 60 people, and bespoke itineraries and menus can be arranged for your group.
