If you are looking for Jazz in the Algarve, then your search is over. Manoel's Jazz Club in Carvoeiro is famous among local and visiting jazz lovers and has been the home to great music for many years.
The cool and chic upper bar (where smoking is permitted) is the perfect place to enjoy good sounds and an early evening drink. The atmospheric black and white wall murals depict saxophonist Manoel Guerreiro, the founder of Manoel's Jazz club. The life-size metal clarinet-playing figure adds to the décor. The upper bar opens out onto the terrace and Monte Carvoeiro square – a self contained square lined with palm trees and a central fountain, just right for warm summer nights.
The downstairs bar is darker and more intimate. This is where the monthly live concerts are staged. Here you can find plenty of jazz memorabilia on display, including several of Manoel Guerreiro’s saxophones. The Monday night concerts of his quintet were legendary and are still talked about. You can still enjoy live jazz concerts at Manoel's. The first Friday of every month brings some great live performances to the downstairs bar and entrance is free.
If jazz isn't your thing, Manoel's also has live music on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays with a more mainstream rock and pop repertoire. The bar has an extensive list of classic cocktails and the wine list is also worthy of attention with some great Portuguese wines available. This is also an excellent venue for private parties, be they corporte affairs or stag nights. Manoel's Jazz Club has just the right mix of cool and mellow making it a great place to spend some time. The bar opens at 6pm until 4am.
