Obrigado Bombeiros! 2018

Following the success of ‘Obrigado, Bombeiros!’ 2016 and 2017, organisers will be holding a similar fundraising event for the Bombeiros of Lagoa and Silves this September, to mark their continued support for the remarkable and vital work of our firefighting crews.

‘Obrigado, Bombeiros!’ 2018 will take place on Saturday 22 September, between 1pm and 7pm, at Casa Algarve on the EN125 between Porches Pottery and the BP garages. Entrance is free.
 
This year’s ‘Obrigado, Bombeiros!’ promises to be the biggest and the best yet, and organisers hope to exceed the €4,500.00 raised last year. The event will feature a variety of music acts, a live auction of new goods and services, a tombola, a raffle, Zig Zag face painting and glitter bar, second hand goods and plant stalls, and delicious food. In addition, Bombeiros from Silves and Lagoa will be present to take part in a Q&A session.
 
Among the artists performing live at the event are UK New Wave covers band The Shakespeareos, Portuguese violinist Joao Pedro Cunha, talented musicians João and Veronica, the incredible voice of Lillian de Jong from The Netherlands and Meadowsweet, with their eclectic mix of popular hits from across the decades.
 


KISS FM presenter Sir Owen Gee will be making an appearance as guest auctioneer at this year’s live auction, which will give event-goers the chance to bid for a diverse range of exciting brand new items and services, generously donated by local businesses. Among the lots up for grabs are rounds of golf for two at leading Algarve golf courses, meals for two at a variety of popular local restaurants, vouchers for top Algarve attractions, boat trips, beauty products, wine and much more - check the Obrigado Bombeiros Facebook Page for the latest list.
 


Additionally, there will be a cash bar and homemade bifanas, beef burgers, falafel and delicious homemade cakes for sale.
 
This summer, the wildfires in the Algarve affected so many residents and visitors. Supporting this event is a great way to express your gratitude to the firefighters who battled relentlessly to quell the fires and keep the the community safe.
