In this thirty-fourth edition, FIMA continues its mission of promoting access to classical music through a series of 14 excellent concerts.
As part of the 365 Algarve cultural programme, FIMA's 14 concerts will be staged across the region over a two month period, to ensure that as many people as possible are able to access and enjoy the performances.
The Orquestra Clássica do Sul (OCS), the only professional musical group south of the Tagus, will be the mainstay of this year's FIMA, providing a base of very high quality, which will combine internationalyl renown artists such as maestro Maxime Tortelier, the violinists Daniel Satabrawa and Christoph Koncz, violist Máté Szücs, cellist Jed Barahal, soprano Dora Rodrigues and also groups such as Grupo Vocal Olisipo and PLINT - Pablo Lapisusas International Trio.
FIMA will also be attended by musicians and guest groups such as Jordi Savall & Hespèrion XXI, percussionist Jean-François Lézé and Orquestra do Norte with maestro Jan Wierzba and cellist Marco Pereira.
The opening concert, Great Periods in the History of Music - Romanticism, will be performed by OCS on 31st March at Cine Teatro Louletano, Loule, at 5pm. The programme will continue during April and May, ending with the closing concert, Music and Travel, again performed by OCS, with Daniel Stabrawa (violin) and Máté Szücs (viola), at Teatro das Figuras in Faro on 31st May.
