The popular Monte Gordo Bay Race returns to the beaches of  Vila Real de Santo António on 7th August.

In its 27th year, the Corrida da Baia de Monte Gordo is one of the oldest races in the Algarve, which attracts hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators each year. The 2016 race starts on the sand at Manta Rota and takes an 8km route along the coast to Monte Gordo beach.

The race is open to anyone aged 18 and over and there are medals and prizes to be won - see the attachment here for full details and regulations (in Portuguese).

If you want to take part, you need to register by 4th August via the Algarve Athletics Association website or by visiting the Santo Antonio Sports Complex (Monday to Friday, from 9am to 7pm) .

The registration fee is 10€  - you can also register on the day between 8:30am and 9:30am, for 15€.
