Christmas 2018 in Loulé

There's a full programme of Christmas festivities for everyone in the Municipality of Loulé. From 1st December until 6th January!

Christmas in the city of Loulé begins on 1st December, with the arrival of Santa Claus at 3pm and the switiching on of Loulé's Christmas lights. Santa will be stopping off in Praça da República, where he and his elves will be meeting children and treating them to gifts. There will be Christmas music too, with Grupo Coral Infantil de Loulé.



Santa and his elves will be moving on to Quarteira on 2nd December, arriving at 11am in Jardim Filipe Jonas, before heading off to the Jardim das Comunidades in Almancil for 3:30pm.

A Christmas parade on 6th December at 10am, will celebrate the opening of the 'Aldeia dos Sonhos- Village of Dreams'. Thousands of students from schools in the Loulé area will take part in the opening, dressed in Christmas colours, with props representative of Christmas time.



The 'Aldeia dos Sonhos' is a magical Christmas village, with themed decorations, Santa's house, traditional toys, snowmen, a wooden carousel, a mini-wheel, inflatables, face painting, theatre sessions and 'Hora do Conto - Story Time', festive food and a wonderfully festive atmosphere. The village includes an ice rink, so that children can experience skating on ice!

What's more, every Saturday and Sunday there will be a Candy Market in Loulé, with several stalls selling a wide variety of sweet treats including chocolates, Ginginha, crepes, waffles and more..... plus, there will be performances by street artists. On Friday evenings, the Market will host Christmas season themed shows.

The  'Aldeia dos Sonhos' will close on 30th December, with a concert given by the Children's Choir of Loulé at 4.30pm.

Admission to the 'Aldeia dos Sonhos' is free.

Christmas trade competition
The Local Store Trade Show Competition will be held from December 1st to 25th. The 'Montras Vivas' initiative invites local shops to create live displays, put up seasonal decorations and think of innovative ways of showcasing what their store has to offer. The objective is to show the quality of the products available and the good service provided by Loulean traders.

Local produce and products
Feira da Serra is back on the 8th December, from 10am to pm, at Avenida José da Costa Mealha. Dozens of exhibitors will be displaying a wide variety of handicrafts and agri-food products.

Charity event
On the 15th December, everyone is encouraged to go out onto the streets of Loulé dressed up for Christmas - wear a Christmas jumper, Christmas hat or anything that signifies the Christmas season. Participants will be invited to donate toys, clothes or food, to be deposited in labelled boxes in local cafes and bars. All donations will be distributed to those in need.
