Monte Gordo Beach

Located just around 3km from Vila Real de Santo Antonio, Monte Gordo is home to one of the Algarve’s most beautiful and most expansive beaches.

The water here is probably the warmest along the Algarve coast due to the close proximity to the Mediterranean. The beach is wide and flat, the water is warm and the sand is almost white and all of this makes it the ideal choice for families and those with limited mobility.

Classified as an "accessible beach" there are several ramps and walkways leading to the sand. The beach is supervised during the bathing season. The beach also offers other facilities too, a first aid post, walking aids and wheelchairs available if needed, toilets, bars and restaurants and a free car park.

The main road of Monte Gordo runs through the resort separating the beach from the town. This road is lined with shops, cafes, restaurants and bars, so if you fancy a little break from the beach there are plenty of distractions on hand!

The eastern end of the beach, right on the border with Spain, separated by the Guadiana, is generally less busy.
